BMI Country Songwriter Award –  Twenty-year-old Taylor Swift added another honor to her career becoming the youngest songwriter to win Country Songwriter of the year at the BMI Awards held last night.

The record was previously held by Bill Anderson, who won the honour in 1960 at the age of 23, and Johnny Cash, who won in 1956 when he was 24 years old.

Taylor is also the first songwriter to ever threepeat, wining BMI Country Song of the Year with “You Belong To Me”  with co-writer Liz Rose.

The hitmaker took to the stage and paid tribute to a close friend, whose funeral she attended just 24 hours earlier, telling the crowd, “It’s been a really emotional week. He was 21, and I used to play my songs for him first.”

Swifts’ latest album “Speak Now” sold more than one million copies it its debut week.
